More than two years ago, I concocted the unoriginal idea that I'd like to have my own domain. And this past summer, I went ahead and bought it. I also started to set up my own self-hosted Wordpress site, with the goal of moving this blog there.
Then I decided that I needed to change teaching positions at work.
That resulted in a 7,368% increase in my workload and a reduction in my free time of an even greater degree. For the last year, as a working mom of two young kids, I've barely been able to find time to blog a few times a month, although I've remained pretty active on Twitter and have kept up with reading other blogs. Since school started this year, all that has fallen by the wayside. When I do find time to surf, I feel completely out of touch with everyone in the blogosphere. I either have no time to write about the things I want to blog about or else I have nothing to say because I'm too exhausted to think. Therefore, although I was about 85% of the way toward launch at the new site at the beginning of the school year, I decided to let it sit dormant until I could be sure I was ready, really ready.
Fuck. That.
I'm never going to be 100% happy with it, even if I took a month off work. I have too much to learn. If I don't go ahead and make the move, I'll keep limping along here on blogspot which, which although it has the benefit of being easy, hasn't been sparking my creativity for a long time. Ready or not...
Here we go, yo!
